Pha Khao Ma
Designed and constructed by tailors Meow and Dae Puangthong in Bangkok, Thailand, Little Cousin's pants are made from upcycled Pha Khao Ma: a versatile, vibrant, checkered textile that is synonymous with, and a celebration of, Thai culture.
The cloth decides how many we make.
Robust, lightweight, stress-free. The Little Cousin pants are comfy, have a box silhouette for movability and airflow, an elasticised waist for smooth putting-on and taking-off, are purchased oversized and worn until three-quarter length for ploughing through puddles, have large pockets for collecting favourite things, and are made from a light fabric that dries quickly and protects little legs from sun and bugs.
For beach days, for playgrounds, for ice cream (dropped and or eaten), for running round', for easy-washing, for quick-drying, for children, for parents, for hand-me-downs, for being worn without wearing out…

What is Pha Khao Ma?
A traditional Thai checked cloth, woven in Thailand and used there for generations. It existed long before Little Cousin. We buy it and cut it into pants rather than commissioning a pattern of our own.
Will they still fit next summer?
The cut is built for it! A box silhouette and an elastic waist — the pants can be worn oversized and long, rolled up above the shoes, and long thereafter as a three-quarter pant.
Do you make anything besides pants?

Will they last?
Pha Khao Ma is the cloth Thai families take to work. It has been through fields, rivers, and years of daily use for generations. It is woven tight, works hard, and washing softens it rather than wearing it out.
How do I wash them?
Machine wash them, just skip the tumble dryer.
Who makes them?
Meow and Dae Puangthong, in Bangkok, work with cousins Hannah and Cal in Australia. Together, they design and bring Little Cousin to Australia, in small runs — from our family to yours.
What does upcycled mean here?
The pants are cut from cloth that already exists. Pha Khao Ma is woven in Thailand to become sarongs, wraps, and everyday cloths. Meow and Dae take this fabric, cutting and sewing it into our Little Cousin pants — with all the benefits of the strong, long-lasting woven cloth.
When will my size be back?
When Meow and Dae make a collection, they work with fabric that is available at the time — a colour, a check, a cloth that catches our eye. They are a mighty team of two, and every collection is a small run made by them. Once in a while, we find a much-loved fabric again, but we can never guarantee we can remake pants from any collection.
